The Silverline takes everything that is good from the FK range and then takes it further still.
The FKs unique, stainless steel lid design is used, which both vastly reduces cooling time and aids in the expulsion of moisture from within the kiln chamber.
The Silverline, as with the FK is designed to reach 700c in around 40 minutes. Although this is faster than most glass will withstand, it does help to quickly stabilize the kiln temperature if the lid has been opened whilst hot for raking

Breathable and expandable floor construction,

undefined

The floor of these kilns, also as the FK range, is made from high grade, lightweight insulation bricks that give both a structurally steady surface to place the work on and a thermally steady base to aid in maximum glass results.

The Silverline floor is recessed by 40mm.

Under the floor is where the Silverline excels. Under the brickwork, the floor structure is made from heavy duty walk mesh that expands with heat without distorting, offers superb physical strength and breathes, so, as with the roof of the kiln, helps and aids cooling dramatically.

As the bricks are not cemented in, they are easily replaced if required.

"Infra-red” Quartz tube element system

undefined

The elements are wound with Kanthal A1, renowned as the worlds best element wire. The elements are inside quartz tubes and the quartz tube element system we use is becoming widely known as "infra-red" kiln heating.

The heating system is in the roof only.

Unlike other manufacturers, the element system in the Silveline is fully covered under the kilns 36 month all parts guarantee.

The boards that make up the chamber are specially produced for us and are pre-fired to 1100c before inserted into the kiln to remove any shrinkage or warping that could otherwise happen.

Angled and sprung anti-dust vent flaps Rear wall vents

undefinedundefined

But it isn’t only the wonderfully even heating that the Silverline is designed to produce, it is wonderfully even when cooling as well.

To match with the sprung angle vent holes in the front of the kiln, there is a matching pair in the rear in identical but opposite positions.
If these 4 vents are used in conjunction with the roof vents, it means both the front and rear of the kiln are being cooled at identical rates.

These wall vents are angled towards the kiln floor to give optimum viewing of your glass if needed.

Motorised automatic roof vents
undefined

The anti-dusting roof vents are taken from the proven FK but, as you would expect with the Silverline, taken to the extreme.

These roof vents are motorised and can be programmed to open or close at any point through the firing cycle and just as importantly, at the end of a cycle when those painstaking 150c or so need to be shifted before the kiln can be opened.

It could make the difference between coming in to a kiln that can be unloaded in the morning, or one that has still got 3 or 4 hours of cooling before it can be opened.

The vents can also be automatically opened at the start of a crash cool then closed before annealing begins.

Kiln body mounted controller

undefined

The controller is the sophisticated ST515.
It has a staggering 32 storable programs.
The first 9 are pre-programmed with cycles for fusing and slumping Bullseye, Spectrum and float glass, slumping bottles and staining.
Each program has 32 fully adjustable segments which offer endless changes in cycle profile.

The ST515 monitors the temperature and acts as an internal electronic heat protection fuse, so, should the kiln start to do something it shouldn’t, it is basically shut down to spare any unnecessary damage.
The controller also has pause facility, segment advance and will indicate power used.

The ST515 is mounted to the kiln floor on a specially designed bracket to keep it cool.

Solid State Relay technology

undefined
The ST325 controls the kiln by a super fast Solid State Relay with its own external heat sink for maximum performance and near silent
operation.
The electrics are mounted below the level of the floor and are also to the outside of the frame to combat high ambient temperatures under the floor and so vastly increasing the life of the electrics.

Under floor shelving and storage space

undefined

The metalwork of the kiln is where the Silverline moves on again. The chamber section of the kiln is top quality stainless steel and with its unpainted finish giving a “silver line” around the kiln.

As with all our kilns, where a covering is applied, it is powder coated and oven baked for superb durability.

The area under the kiln is split into 3 sections. An unshelved section where taller items can be stored directly onto the floor.
A shelved centre section that can be used for shorter items or glass etc and the third
section contains a brush or pots bin.
Basically, it can all be used however you would like to.

The Silverline is on lockable castors.

The Silverline shares maintenance functionality with the FK range in that it is designed to be totally functional and relatively easy to maintain.

For instance, in the rare event of having to replace an element or tube, the lid is easily removed and the kiln is worked on like working on a bench, this is as easy as it gets and requires very little space around the kiln.

The lid seal is not stuck on but is held in by a removable stainless steel picture frame and as such, in the event of damage, it is fully replaceable leaving a factory fitted finish that will give years more trouble free use.

Each Silverline is fired to 750c with its own ST325 programmer before dispatch to ensure perfect operation, calibration and removal of most of the binder vapors that are released by all kilns on the first firing.

Silverline kilns carry a 36 month guarantee on all parts including elements.
