Don't be fooled by the name, the Hobbyfuser is a serious glass kiln. The kiln is built for a long life span and we have no worries at all in issuing the kiln with a 2 year guarantee. When the kiln was in development it was run at 950°C and held for 1 hour over 40 times. At the end of the trial we stripped the kiln down and even we were amazed at the lack of deterioration we came across.
Whichever way you look at it, the Hobbyfuser is a very hardy kiln. The kiln lid is made from stainless steel and lined out with non-ceramic fibre, press cut and fitted in a quite unique way for kilns of this type. In the centre of the lid is a vent hole which comes with a matching plug.
The heating system is in the roof only and utilises the latest technology quartz tube heating elements. This method is extremely hard wearing and strong, yet in the event of an element failure the tubes are both easy and cheap to replace.
The base section of the chamber is made from refractory brick and made in such a way that the bricks can be easily replaced without the need for cement etc. The pre-fitted control is the [ST315 controller], which is detailed on the controls section of our web site. It has 10 programs, each having 9 segments. each segment consists of 1 x rate of climb, 1 x target temperature and 1 x dwell/hold. The Hobbyfuser comes complete with a 13 amp plug top.
The Hobbyfuser Midi is built to the exact same specification as the Hobbyfuser. The only difference is the floor area. The Hobbyfuser Midi internal size is 300mm x 310mm. The Hobbyfuser Midi is finished in Kilncare Ultramarine Blue.
